Finally came out.

OpenOffice 2.4 is more than just an update: as can be seen from the release notes, this new software release brings a great number of improvements and new features. Among other things, has been simplified printing capability and improve the management of PDF, which now adds the ability to export to PDF / A: the latter is an ISO standard designed to store documents in the long period.
This version also contains new tools developed by Italians in Italy as the dictionary for spelling developed by Paul Wise and the thesaurus developed by the students coordinated by Daniela Volta - and filter for PDF / A was developed by Joseph Chestnut: the latter two authors are both members of the Italian Language Project OOo (Plio). "A demonstration of the role of the Association and the Plio Italian within the international community of OpenOffice.org," it said in a statement released by Plio.
For more info about the new features I refer you to the site from which I got inspiration.
Now we just have to wait for version 3.0 which promises to be a real revolution. Hopefully, we hope this editor know that everything will soon establish itself in the open source desktop environments for two simple reasons:
-the end of the monopoly of formats such as OOXML proposed by Microsoft in favor of open formats and internationally recognized.
-can be a beginning to start to bring down the mistrust that is for the average, schools and government, against what is open and free (and free also as free, as have the system : it's free = lack of quality).
