What are Screenlets?
Are small applications to "fix" on the screen with which you can do many things, for example, read real-time RSS feeds of a website, or check email; monitor the free space of your HD, you can hold a calendar; for laptops have a battery life indicator, and much more. For example:

To install it is all very simple, just add the line
d b http://ppa.launchpad.net/gilir/ubuntu gutsy main universe

The program is now present in Applications / Accessories and you can start it from there with a click.
