G IP name display LET app is a simple GNOME panel that lets you see the external IP address for your machine, very handy for those who need to check that the ip is not changed and wants to do it without installing "programmoni heavy."
If you use ubuntu you can install it from Synaptic or by:

sudo apt-get install giplet

For other distros of Linux on the project site is the explanation and the tar.gz package to install.

ah, it works only with gnome, of course ;)
