In Ubuntu Jaunty often there are still many problems with the audio.
Before asking for help on ubuntu forums or look strange things, from personal experience, I recommend to update the audio subsystem ALSA to version 1.0.19 to version 0.9.15 and pulseaudio
The thing is really easy because we rely on a repo, and then nothing compilations;
1) Add the repository
themuso / ppa / ubuntu jaunty main deb http:// ppa.launchpad.net / themuso / ppa / ubuntu jaunty main
the sources.list (sudo gedit / etc / apt / sources.list or from System-Administration-Software Sources)
2) certifying the repository with the command
keyserver.ubuntu.com B88A1AA8 sudo apt-key adv - recv-keys - keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com B88A1AA8
3) Updating the list of packages (sudo apt-get update)
4) Now you will find between updates alsa and pulseaudio. Install updates and reboot the PC.
